Improvements in outbound call management for callerID after v2.6.4 SmartAssist

We want to inform you of an important update related to the upcoming release post 2.6.4, which brings enhanced capabilities to the configuration of Caller ID for outbound calls.

What’s Changing:

  • After the 2.6.4 release, users will now have the flexibility to configure their own SIP trunk or assign a new Twilio number for outbound calls.
  • This is a significant improvement, as previously, this feature was limited to Kore Twilio numbers only.

Key Changes:

Twilio Purchased Numbers:

  • With the upcoming release, if you’ve purchased a number from Twilio, you’ll gain the ability to designate that specific number as the Caller ID for outgoing calls.
  • This enhancement provides you with more customization options for displaying Caller ID information, giving you greater control over your outbound communications.

Bring Your Own SIP Trunk (BYOT):

  • When utilizing a self-managed SIP trunk, the configuration of the SIP trunk becomes crucial for initiating outgoing calls.
  • Notably, it becomes the client’s responsibility to handle Caller ID information for these calls.
  • This implies that clients with their own SIP trunk have the ability to manage and customize Caller ID information in alignment with their specific needs.

Note regarding Outgoing Calls and SIP Trunk Support:

  • It’s crucial to note that if the configured SIP trunk doesn’t support outbound calls, outgoing calls won’t work as intended.
  • This emphasizes the importance of verifying that the SIP trunk being used aligns with outbound calling requirements.
  • In simpler terms, before relying on a SIP trunk for outbound calls, ensure it’s compatible with making outgoing calls. Otherwise, outgoing calls may fail or behave unexpectedly.
  • These improvements are designed to grant you greater flexibility and control in managing your outbound communication strategies.
