Subject: Search AI - Key Product Updates

Dear Users,

We hope you’ve been enjoying our Search AI platform capabilities!

We’ve added many new features in the recent past to make your applications more accurate, secure, robust, and flexible. Role-Based Access Controls (RACL) are now extended to many more sources, advanced embedding models are now enabled to further improve the retrieval precision and custom LLM integration for flexible model selection - all designed to make your applications more secure and powerful. Head to our documentation page to learn more about all the changes.

Introducing Smart Hibernation

To complement these improvements and ensure optimal performance, we’re introducing smart hibernation - an intelligent resource management feature that temporarily disables your applications when they are not in use but keeps them ready for instant reactivation whenever you need them.

What’s Changing

Starting November 16, 2024 apps that haven’t received any search requests for 90 consecutive days will automatically enter hibernation mode. This feature applies to all applications in your account and ensures your resources are being used efficiently while maintaining instant availability.

What This Means for You

  • All your data remains completely safe and secure
  • No action is required if you regularly use your apps
  • Hibernated apps can be reactivated instantly when needed
  • Simply retrain the application to resume normal functionality
  • This applies to all applications in your account

For more information, please check our documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What exactly is hibernation mode?
A: Hibernation mode is a smart resource optimization feature that preserves all your data while efficiently managing system resources for inactive applications.

Q: Will I lose any data when my app goes into hibernation?
A: No, absolutely not. All your data remains intact and secure during hibernation.

Q: How are apps selected for hibernation?
A: Apps are selected for hibernation based on two criteria:

  • If the app has been created 90 or more days ago, AND
  • If the last search query made by the end-user was more than 90 days ago

Q: How do I know if my app is going into hibernation?
A: When accessing an app that has been hibernated, you’ll see a banner at the top of the page indicating its hibernated status.

Q: How quickly can I reactivate a hibernated app?
A: Reactivation is immediate. Simply access the app and complete the retraining process. The retraining process typically takes just a few minutes depending on the number of documents ingested.

Q: Will this affect my app’s performance?
A: No, active apps will continue to function normally. Only inactive apps will be affected.
