Does bot respond to user's general queries like what is the time right now, how is the weather today etc?

Hi,

Can we ask general queries to the bot like

  • how is the weather today
  • how are you
  • what is the time right now

Right now this doesn’t seem to work.
But being bot with NLP, I expect it to answer these questions other than me added intents/tasks.

Hi @nehamsheikh,

We observe that the bot responds to the question “How are you?” as it is added under Greetings in the Standard responses.

So, whenever the user says “Hi”, “Hello”, “Thank you”, “Bye”, “How are you?” etc are small talk and has been added in the standard responses.

The bot doesn’t answer for the weather related and time related questions.

Keeping in mind various usecases of the user/developer on weather and time concepts, these haven’t been added under standard responses.

However, we will convey this to our engineering team.

How many standard responses are there in the bot configuration?

How is the weather and what is current time are very normal questions.
These questions list can be also appended to standard responses list.

The Weather and time information need to be accessed from an external API.
We have kept it open for the developer to use the third party services as per their requirement.
